by Firstname  Lastname   This is an introductory sentence or two before I state my thesis. And now here comes my thesis statement, whittled down to one single sentence. My thesis is that X is the case and Y is the case. This is my main paragraph arguing that X is the case. "This is one quote from the text arguing that X is the case (page #, line)." My explication of what this quote is saying is that blah blah blah, which supports the claim that X is the case. "This is yet another quote cementing the fact that X is the case (page, line)." What this passage means is that blah blah blah, which supports my claim that X is the case. And this is my main paragraph arguing that Y is the case. "This is one quote from the text arguing that Y is the case (page #, line)." My explication of what this quote means is that blah blah blah, which supports the claim that Y is the case. "And here is yet another quote cementing the fact that Y is the case (page, line)." What this passage means is that blah blah blah, which supports my claim that Y is the case. In this paragraph I just summarize what we have now seen about X and Y. We can thus see in final summary that, repeating my thesis, X is the case and Y is also the case.
